We are what some call a “Christian” band. God has given us the opportunity to share what He is doing in us through the songs that He has given us. With this said…I don’t find it very Christ-like for Hunter to lie to our faithful readers.

I do currently and occasionally eat meat HOWEVER, I do not and did not go out and get Quarter Pounder after watching Fast Food Nation on the bus. As a matter of fact I haven’t eaten at McDonald’s in over 2 years since I watched Super Size Me. Now, if Hunter wants to use the World Wide Web as one more way to try and make me look bad that’s fine. I however, will be the bigger person and will not stoop to his level.

P.S. The picture up above is of a young Hunter Smith (he’s on the left). I just don’t understand why all the other kids are smiling and he is striking a pose.

Hello, I hope everyone is doing alright. Just want to say thanks to everyone who has found our little blog and shared it with friends.
As, some of you know Hunter and I are out on the WinterJam tour until Mid-March and we have had a great time meeting people from all the cities we have traveled to so far. Being on such a large scale tour has been both humbling as well as eye opening. Even though Hunter does have another high-profile job really we are just two worship leaders who love to share the songs God has given us with anyone who wants to hear them. Since Hunter and I met we both agreed that neither of us felt called to “entertain” people. I believe God uses platforms like music or football to get His message out. However, we both know that throughout scripture God used the lowliest of people to accomplish His purposes. We believe our responsibility in this is to minister and not to just entertain people. Because He has allowed us to be on a stage like this it is our prayer to stay low. My desire for this blog is not for people to just read more about what we are doing but join in on what God is doing through us. I believe that everyone is called to be a minister. This doesn’t mean that everyone is called to work at their church but we are called to reach out and use the gifts that God has given us to love people. We ask for your prayers that we may stay low and always keep His agenda our first priority. Thank you all.

Besides Connersvine, what is the greatest band in the history of music? Why do you think so?

image.jpegWe returned home from the third leg of the tour this morning. Our last show was in St. Louis. We start again this Thursday in Evansville, IN.

Wow, do I have the skinny on Chris from this last weekend. For those of you who are new to our blog my name is Hunter and Chris is the other side of Connersvine.(the one with the raspy voice) So, we’re on the road in the tour bus and there is a movie/documentary on TV about the beef cattle industry. Toward the end it started to show the actual slaughtering process which I must even admit was a little hard to stomach. I mean, I do believe that God placed animals here for us to enjoy by any means possible. As pets, entertainment, sports, breakfast, lunch, and supper. However, the grisly details of this program were getting to me. I can’t go into detail about this horrific and brutal process, but I will say that even after growing up on a beef cattle ranch in Texas I was growing faint from the excessive gore and cruelty.

So after watching this for a few minutes Chris stands up and leaves the bus. I thought for sure he was making an exit to 1.) make a point, and 2.) have a good cry. Imagine my surprise when he returns 25 minutes later with a bag of 2 double quarter pounders!!!! Didn’t even let the body cool. By the way, that dude eats meat like a buzzard. PETA???Whatever.

chartreux-kitten-rc-germany.jpgOK, I just want to clarify a few things for the record here…

Hunter just started this whole blogging thing and he is already trying to start a fight. I went fishing last week because I wanted to be socialable and be “one of the guys”. I generally don’t take part in these kind of activities because quite frankly, I am an animal lover! Yes its true. Call me a sissy, call me what you may but hunting, fishing, trying to masculate myself by killing something is not my idea of fun.

Hunter wrote in a recent blog that I caught and harmed a fish while out with the boys. This is simply a bold faced lie and a sad attempt to get me kicked out of PETA. I don’t take it personally, it probably has more to do with our names. See, my name “Christopher” means “Christ’s Light”, Hunter’s name…well I guess speaks for itself. I just love all of God’s creatures and will never find killing a sport but hey, I never really was any good at sports.

fishing.jpgHello, we are getting ready for our next run on the Winter Jam tour. We will be in Illinois, Ohio, and Missouri over the next four days. Being off the last couple days has been nice. The MercyMe crew guys and I spent the day Tuesday going fishing in Florida. Even though the guys caught nothing we had a great time on the boat all day and it was much warmer than Indy. We spent Wednesday in Nashville hanging out and catching up with friends and on sleep.

I am looking forward to this weekend as my wife and family will be coming out to Cincinnati and Columbus to check out the tour. Our blog family has been quickly growing and we greatly appreciate your support and commitment to check up on what’s going on with us. If you get to come check out a show please stop by our table and let us know you have been reading our blog. Also, pass the link along to your friends! Look forward to hearing and seeing you all soon.

37552.jpgSo good to spend a few days back in Indy with the family. My son turns 3 about the same time our second son will be born so we are in the nesting stage once again. Our 2 year old still hasn’t figured out that everyone isn’t pregnant all of the time. He thinks that because mom has a baby inside he must also. Sometimes he tells me what his baby is like. Sometimes he tells me what the baby inside of me is like also. This is troubling and funny at the same time. Even funnier are my attempts to correct him and explain it all to him. I typically fumble around and throw my hands up in the air about the time he asks if we can go play with cars. Precious times.

Chris is still in Florida after that leg of our tour. He is on a fishing trip and today he sent me a text saying that he’d caught an 11 pound Florida hybrid striped bass!! Said he hooked it in the eye unfortunately so mounting it would take some real work by a taxidermist. At any rate, he reports that with a little batter and some crisco it’ll “fry up nice”. Hope he and the boys enjoy!

Looking forward to the weekend with Winter Jam. Praying that God moves powerfully!

connersvine8.jpgWell, football season ends and touring season begins!! People are always asking me how I’m doing after a season ending loss. They typically ask as though I’ve been holed up in a corner somewhere sucking my thumb, rocking back and forth, and repeating the score to the game we just lost over and over. Well, I suppose if everything rises and falls in your life with career success that might be the case. (ok, maybe alittle extreme) However, this world and it’s institutions cannot offeranything besides finances in themselves.

Sometimes I believe Godprevents people’s success so that they don’t ultimately fail. I don’t know why we lost to the Chargers a couple of weeks ago, but I assure you that God does and His reasons have very little to do with who He wants to win the Super Bowl and everything to do with bringing Glory to Himself and advancing His kingdom on the earth.

After a week on the Winter Jam tour I am having a blast! God is blessing His ministry through Chris and myself and it is a privilege to be His voice. We are wanting not to concentrate on the work so much and just focus on Jesus. Focusing on your ministry is vanity and ultimately leads to severe spiritual pride. So, starting this coming Thursday in Illinois we’ll hit the road again with His best interests in mind.

Sorry if I preach. Hope you all continue to visit!!
