OK, for the record I am a huge Conan O’Brien fan. It was a bittersweet goodbye for me when Conan left Late Night, but I am happy that he will be taking over the Tonight Show because Leno is not funny (this is actually a fact, check wikipedia).
However, I was eager to see how Jimmy Fallon was going to do now in Conan’s seat at Late Night. Incase you didn’t know I am a bit of a night owl and when I sit up late at night working and writing I like to enjoy a good talk show.
Last night was Jimmy Fallon’s first show as host and it was…PAINFUL! I am not sure how you can stack a show with Robert De Niro, Justin Timberlake, and Van Morrison and still TANK! This sort of thing may not be important to you and compared to the worlds problems this may rank up there with when The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air changed the actress who played “Vivian Banks” (the Mother) from Janet Hubert-Whitten (1990-1993) to Daphne Maxwell Reid (1993-1996)….what, did they think we wouldn’t notice?!!
This is important to me! Not like world hunger or the salvation of the lost, but still important. The highlight of the night was Van Morrison’s performance when he did a song from his reissue of Astral Weeks an album that was originally released in October of 1968. Please, if you stayed up to watch it or have thoughts on the subject let me know.
