My wife and I are having this one on this coming Tuesday, the 4th of March. That is actually our other sons birthday as well. Please pray that all goes well. We are very excited!
I have an idea for a series of posts about our album. Chris and I worked hard on this album for a long time and it would be special to me (if nobody else) to write a little bit about each song’s story. Chris is out on the road working hard finishing the tour so this is least I could do. (in my nonexistent spare time!) By the way, this is in no way a plug for people to buy our album, but………well………….ok, just buy our album. That way the story behind each song will make sense to you. It doesn’t matter to us how you purchase the album. If you’re worried that I’m using some manipulative tactic to sell albums then, well, you’re right…..I guess. However, you’re not being duped for our own selfish benefit. We believe in the message of our album.
We believe that God has a purpose in it and we’d love to share the origins of each song. Once I was talking to some guys from a large and very well known band about their album. We were talking about the process of writing the songs. One of them said, “Well, we knew we had the single (meaning the big radio song) so the rest of it was just filling up the tracks.” This was hard for me to hear. I believe that we as artists are entrusted with a unique responsibility to express an important message to people. Furthermore, I believe God is worthy of more than
just a bunch of “filler” so that we meet our deadlines. We have been touched by God through the process of writing and recording this album and we believe others will be touched also through the process of listening and understanding it’s journey.
We’ll start tomorrow with the first track, a song called “Glory Be”. Until then!!

how neat that your boys have the same birthday!! I missed you both at church yesterday. I wanted to give Jen a hug before the “big” day.
Give her one for me. She knows me, I don’t think you do. (and that’s OK.) Praying all goes well. What is his name? My “baby” will be 11 on Friday.
I have bought three or four of your CD’s. God never lets me keep them.
I would love to know the testimony of the songs. I was in front of Jen’s grandparents at your album release concert. She went on and on about how if I knew more of the stories behind the songs I would like it so much more. She’s funny and I live not far from her.
I can’t wait for the stories and your big news, etc.
My favorite song so far is “Sacred Mystery.” “Hero” and “time to die” aren’t far behind!
I’m so excited for your family! The big day is almost here! Two on the same day,OMG Party at the Smith’s house!!Please keep us posted! Your idea sounds great! It would be neat to hear the stories behind all the songs on my very favorite CD!I’ve bought several, but I have just about wore mine out. So, I best buy myself another one or 5. Happy to pray for your entire family at this amazing time in your life. Becky
We are very excited for your family and will keep you all in our prayers today. Please keep us posted.
We will miss you on the tour Friday, but I wish more fathers would see that being with their family is a blessing and sometimes more important than working overtime…. You have to take the opportunities when they are there because before you know it, the kids will be grown up.
I love the idea of knowing the history behind the songs.
Praying for a smooth delivery and health for both baby and momma!
I am looking forward to reading about the creative process behind each song. And I will point my friends to whom I’ve loaned your album here to read more about it!
